POLLUTANTS

Dioxin/Furans

The first method of controlling dioxins and furans (d/f) emissions is to control its source, the combustion process. In addition, generation of d/f occurs post combustion as the gas is cooled. This generation can be minimized by rapid quenching of the gas stream. Croll Reynolds has specific experience in designing such rapid quench gas coolers. Finally, whatever d/f is present in the gas stream can be treated effectively utilizing carbon adsorption or a scrubbing technique called flux force condensation. This occurs when the gas is sub-cooled, creating fine droplets of water in the gas stream that act as sites upon which the d/f will adsorb. These fine droplets are then captured in a high efficiency wet ESP.
