PRODUCTS
Croll-Reynolds specializes in custom-designed air pollution control equipment featuring
wet technologies due to their self-cleaning nature, low maintenance, small footprint
and high performance. Our product line of wet scrubbers and gas absorbers can be utilized
as stand-alone devices for single purpose applications or combined together for collection of multiple pollutants.
Wet Scrubbers
Jet Venturi Scrubbers
The Jet Venturi Scrubber utilizes a liquid motivated ejector design to entrain contaminated gases, generally
without the need for a blower. The relatively high liquid-to-gas ratio, liquid atomization, and open internal
design provide effective scrubbing of heavily contaminated gases with minimal maintenance and virtually
unlimited turndown capabilities. Its ability to handle wide ranging conditions while removing both toxic
gases and particulate matter makes the Jet Venturi one of the most flexible designs available. It is often
used as a first stage in a multi-stage pollution control system.
High Energy Venturi Scrubbers
The High Energy Venturi Scrubber is ideally suited to the capture of small particles between 0.5 and 3
microns. It's effectiveness in the submicron range is critically dependent on gas-side pressure drop.
This design requires little or no maintenance.
For applications where variation in flow require throat velocity compensation to maintain specified scrubbing
efficiencies, Croll-Reynolds offers automatic and manually variable throat designs. The automatic throat is
used where flow conditions vary widely and frequent adjustments are required. When occasional variations occur,
a manually-controlled throat is generally sufficient.
Multi-Channel Bed Scrubbers (MCBS)
The Croll-Reynolds Multi-Channel Bed Scrubber (MCBS) is designed to collect particles above 2 microns with
99.9% efficiency. Often used as a pre-cleaner for electrostatic precipitators or scrubbing systems, the
multi-channel bed system utilizes a turbulent layer of liquid, air, bubbles, and mist to scrub toxic gases,
to perform gas cooling, odor control, and particulate removal.
The flooded glass marble bed and air-rotated marbles of the MCBS allow continuous self-cleaning. The low
maintenance design operates in the range of 500 to 70,000 CFM with higher gas flow requirements attainable.
EtO/PO Scrubbers
Ethylene Oxide gas (EtO) is used to reduce or render inactive microbial populations in sterilization processes.
EtO sterilizes materials and products that would be damaged by conventional sterilization techniques which
employ heat, moisture, or radiation. Propylene Oxide (PO) and Ethylene Oxide are also used as precursors in
the production of a number of critical chemicals.
Croll-Reynolds' proprietary EtO/PO scrubbing systems utilize absorption and hydrolysis of these oxides to
glycols to effectively treat EtO and PO contaminated gases. Efficiencies greater than 99.9% are guaranteed.
Fully automated systems are available.
NOx Scrubbers
Conventional scrubbers are limited to low NOx removal efficiencies due to the nature of the aqueous absorption
chemistry involved. Croll-Reynolds' patented "Surface Active" media effectively overcomes those limitations --
without the need for exotic or expensive chemicals or a costly and complex operational scheme.
This technology is particularly well suited for applications where the infamous "orange" plume is produced by
high levels of NOx.
Croll-Reynolds can supply the scrubber alone or as a complete systems with auxiliary instrumentation and controls.
Mercury Scrubbers
Specialized scrubbing systems are available for mercury removal and separation for complete recovery. This
patented process utilizes new developments in high voltage technology to achieve complete recovery of mercury.

Gas Absorbers
Packed Tower Scrubbers
The Croll-Reynolds Packed Tower Scrubber utilizes a vertical counter-current design for highly efficient
absorption of a variety of toxic gases. In addition to its extensive uses in air pollution control, the
Packed Tower can serve as a gas/liquid contactor in a number of process applications. Efficiencies of 99.9%
and greater are not unusual for many scrubbing applications.
During operation, gas flows upward through a packed bed while scrubbing liquid flows down (by gravity) over
the packing material. The counter-flow design principle offers optimal mass transfer. Croll Reynolds supplies
cross flow and co-current flow Packed Tower designs as well.
Multi-Rod Deck Scrubbers (CR-5)
Croll-Reynolds Rod Deck Scrubber is a multi-stage chemical absorber that will not scale or plug. It operates
by creating turbulent layers from the counter-current flow of liquid passing downward and the gas rising upward
between the multi-rods.
By providing minimum restriction and self-cleaning capability, the rod-deck scrubber operates with minimum
maintenance and low energy requirements. It is an excellent pre-scrubber for an ESP for removal of gaseous
contaminants, large particulate and odors while offering the advantages of sub-cooling the gas.

Integrated Air Pollution Control Systems
We believe a sound air pollution control strategy should employ dry APC
technologies to remove large particles and reduce the loading on downstream equipment while wet technology
should be employed to cool the gas, minimize its volume, and polish a gas of hard to capture pollutants.
Understanding each technology and how it integrates with both upstream and downstream equipment is critical
to successful integration. A thorough understanding of the chemical constituants of the flue gas is required
to properly arrange, size and design a high-efficiency, cost-effective air pollution control system.
